Antique "HIRDARAMANI" Japanese advertising fan Fort Colombo Sri Lanka 1910's JAPAN. Advertising decorative Sensu / Japanese folding hand fan, ephemera. Paper leaf and bamboo. Multi-coloured on beige base. 2 Meiji-Taisho style scenes. Gilt detail on edges.

Text reads as follows: "Hirdaramani 65-69 Chatham St Fort Colombo. Stockists of latest, up-to-date fine silks, gentlemen's suitings, beautiful carpets, jewellery etc etc. Expert tailors for ladies and gentlemen, value quality & service guaranteed sarees of all designs. Made in Japan."

Hirdaramani originally operated as a retail and luxury tailoring shop catering to cruise ship passengers and sailors docking at the Colombo Harbour in Fort, Colombo (Sri Lanka). Pre-WWI Ceylon (Sri Lanka) and British Empire merchant memorabilia. Meiji and Taisho-era. Hand coloured. Made in Japan in 1910's. Sourced within the Mornington Peninsula.
