"TWININGS" red English Breakfast 8oz 227g tea tin vintage 1960's. Advertising tea. Would make a beautiful addition to a vintage tea tin collection or stunning kitchen display piece.

Pre-barcoded with a square lid. Rare and scarce. Less common to find than later 1970's and 1980's version which has a round lid. Red colour with white writing. Text on tin states manufacturing began in 1706 and has been in production for over 260 years, which would date the tin from at least 1966. Manufactured in London, England. Embossed stamp on base: 5144X

Tin reads as follows: (front and back) Est 1706. Twinings. Teamen to connoisseurs for over 260 years. English breakfast tea. Net weight 8ozs (227grams). Full bodied Ceylon and Indian teas skilfully blended to produced a real English Brew. Blended by R. Twinings & Co. Ltd. London, England.

(side) Twinings since 1706. Teamen to connoisseurs. In 1706 Thomas Twining set up as a tea merchant in London. From that year to the present time the firm of Twinings has carried on the business without a break at the same address in the London Strand, an amazing and unique record. For over 260 years, Twinings have supplied people of taste and discrimination throughout the world with teas of supreme quality. Today Twinings Teas still give the same unequalled pleasure and satisfaction they first gave the world in 1706.

(side) English breakfast tea. A blend of Ceylon and Indian teas producing a typically English brew. A worldwide favourite of those who prefer a full bodied tea. Good tea deserves the very best treatment. Warm the teapot before putting in one teaspoonful for each person and 'one for the pot'. Bring fresh water to the boil and pour it on immediately. If you allow it to stand for five minutes you will then enjoy the distinctive character and flavour of this choice tea.

There is some wear and surface rust, especially on the top, which was originally gold, but all in all in good condition for its age (please refer to photos).
