Vintage "J.P. MCEVOY" aka JOSEPH P. MCEVOY aka JOHN P. MCEVOY brass "The House By The Side Of The Road" poem 3" perpetual desk calendar. Medium sized. Rectangular brass plaque nailed to a wood base with gold crackle design. Steel kick stand affixed to back to place on desk or table. Plaque has a depiction of a house on the side of a road with coloured enamel accents and a poem titled "The House By The Side Of The Road" by American 1920's-30's writer J.P McEvoy. Art Deco style. Embossed poem reads, as follows:

"The house by the side of the road. Let me live in a house by the side of the road. Where the race of men go by. The men who are good and the men who are bad. As good and as bad as I. I would not sit in the scorner's seat. Or hurl the cynie's ban - Let me live in a house by the side of the road. And be a friend to man."

Unbranded possibly handmade and origin of manufacturer unknown, likely from America in 1920's-30's.

Excellent Vintage Condition, age tarnish to brass. Turn dials for month and day are in perfect working order. Ding to plaque on poem. Sourced within the Mornington Peninsula.
