Vintage "LEOPARDS ON THE LOIRE" by Robina Beckles Willson hardcover novel book 1961, illustrated by Gwyneth Cole, published by The Camelot Press Limited in England. First Edition. With dust jacket. This is the story of ten, an orphan, who has been adopted into a family of professional musicians. Bearing great musical gifts herself, Sarah immediately feels at home in the unconventional household where 'Birdie', her adopted father, and Mrs. Byrd are both pianists and teach at the Academy. She enters into the fun with her adopted brother, Alistair, who plays the viola, and his friends in the Youth Orchestra; and between them they find adventure; in a London street-market, in giving concerts, in Sarah's secret half-term trip to Liverpool, and in a visit of the orchestra to Paris. The greatest excitement comes when Alistair, is asked to write and conduct music for a performance of Son et Lumiere at the chateau Leopards on the Loire - a performance that will feature a brilliant young dancer, Monica. And it is the performance itself, after many difficulties have been overcome, that shows the whole family how important Sarah has become to them.
