"W. SAUNDERS & SON" two-tone brown malt extract 5" stoneware canister. Light brown base with darker brown top and lid. Impressed lettering on side of canister reads as follows: "W. Sanders & Son Malt Extract manufactures Richmond". Made in Richmond Australia in 1900's. "Saunders" began in Melbourne in 1870 and are still in operation today. Very Good Antique Condition. Chip out of knob prior to firing as it is glazed. Chip near base under "Richmond". Crazing to glaze. Extremely rare and sought after. Likely one-of-a-kind due to incorrectly labeled as "Sanders" not "Saunders".
