Vintage "WHEN THE ROOT CHILDREN WAKE UP" by Helen Dean Fish, illustrated by Sibylle Olfers hardcover picture book 1988, published by The Green Tiger Press in Singapore, Fifth Printing. Originally published in 1941. Based on "ETWAS VON DER WURZELKINDERN" ("SOMETHING ABOUT THE ROOT CHILDREN") originally published in 1906. Sourced within the Mornington Peninsula.

At winter's end, the root children awaken and prepare for the spring as they brush and paint the bumble bees, crickets, and ladybugs, and ready special colourful garments for the new season.

Very Good Vintage Condition, attached cover picture is worn (common with the 1988 edition) and hand written inscription in pencil has been partially removed from top right hand corner on front page.
