"SANKYO SHOJI CO LTD" Pierrot de Pierre clown musical jewellery box vintage 1970's Taiwan. Would make a beautiful addition to a vintage clown collection or display piece.

Upright standing rectangular jewellery box depicting Pierrot de Pierre clown dancing whilst juggling a yellow felt ball, standing on a piano. A small drawer at the base of the box for holding jewels or other trinkets, with original pink felt lining. The music activates when wind up turn key at back is turned and drawer is opened. Plays "Orphee Aux Enfersor" ("Orpheus In The Underworld") also known as "The Can Can Song" by Jacques Offenbach. Constructed of plastic and wrapped in paper decorated with gold scrolls, red roses and arched shuttered windows. Pierrot is constructed of cardboard with brass connections. Clear plastic insert displaying Pierrot with a brass frame. Predominant colours of red and purple. "Shankyo Shoji Co Ltd" was founded in the 1950's in Japan. Manufactured in Taiwain in 1970's. Very Good Vintage Condition, in excellent working condition both mechanically and musically. Minimal wear overall. Very rare and sought after. Was sourced within the Mornington Peninsula.
