"ALEX MATHIESON & SON" 14" 738 wood technical jack plane. Double iron technical jack plane model #738. Solid wood (likely beech or oak) with boxwood striking nub at the front of the mouth with stepped down sunken lower rear handle area with open handle. Cast steel blade from "W. Marples & Sons" Sheffield England. Cannot read branding on steel chip breaker. Embossed stamp on front reads as follows: "A. Mathieson & Son Glasgow." with crescent moon and star. Embossed stamp on sides reads as follows: "E. D." or "E. o. D." with a 2 pronged logo, perhaps from a technical high school. Made in Glasgow or Edinburgh Scotland in 1860's-1940's, likely 1900's-30's. Excellent Antique (or Vintage) Condition for its age. Rust to blade and chip breaker. No cracks to wood, no chips to blade. May be refurbished at buyer's discretion. Sourced within The Mornington Peninsula.
